Post subject: Back pain
Archived from groups: misc>fitness>weights (more info?)

I have been going to the gym for 2hours aday 5 days a week for the
last 6 months and have gone from 14 stone 3 pounds to 10 stone 8
pounds. i have just about reached my goal now, but I am experiencing
pain in the left side of my back about half way up. It feels sore .
Its not like I cant train or stops me doing anything , but it aches .
Should I stop training which I really don't want to do and put the
weight back on and lose my fitness. Are there exercises I can do that
wont put any strain on my back. Will it get better on its own or do I
need to rest.I've had it for about 2 weeks now , but Its ok alot of
the time and I don't notice it. Thanks for any advice.

I'm not near to an expert on the subject, but I did post with the exact
same question couple of days ago. Pretty much same story Smile
Lost substantial amount of weight working my ass off for last few months,
desperate not to go back to what I was and seriously keen on keeping going,
being so motivated by the results. Also start having pain in middle back on
the left or right side (at random) while doing cardio, after free weights
training. I end up visiting my doctor and on his advice a Chiropractor.
This is what was my problem and what they suspected causes the pain:

My Spine was under pressure for some time due to my big fat ass. I top up
some more stress on my feet and knees by jogging and skipping. I also use
lousy shoes for jogging and being flat footed putting pressure on my feet
promote more discomfort. The Chiropractor also said that my middle back
was week, too week to support me and it cause changes in my posture.

Before the Chiropractor did any adjustments, I did an x-ray of my lower
back in a near by Sport Center (clinic dealing with all kind of sport
injuries).

I end up having adjustment done, twice a week for next 8 weeks.
Had to change shoes and put in full-length orthotics and I was given
vitamin B-forte (B Complex), a pill once a day.

I tell you with all honesty that after the first adjustment I felt more
light than after loosing 20 over KGs in past few months. The pain gone
in 2 days and I go easy on the cardio now. Try to be more mindful of my
posture. The pain will come back from time to time for a short while but
that's literally minutes of discomfort, nothing else, and it goes away on
its on.

By the way, I was told to lay off Deadlifts for a while and be very careful
while picking up heavy weight of the floor. Tho that's general principle
over all Smile anyways, it does work for me and I have been pain free for a while
now.
I would suggest you visit your doctor before you do more harm to yourself.
Be safe Smile

best regards

Sebastian
