I didn't see it but I doubt it- reportedly Mark Twight was involved in the
training- also associated with www.gymjones.com

I haven't read it, since I am already a Spartan, but I saw this the
other day:

Actually it was, for the most part, done through calorie deficit.

Look it up.

Involves non-immediate gratification and no drugs. Most folks look
like obese turds because of that simple fact.

HTH.

No info here, but a bit of opinion, fwiw.

I assume that some of the actors were not on any specific diet, but
were simply chosen for their role because of their appearance. Broad
shoulders, visible abs, lean, and not entirely gruesome. Seems like a
no-brainer there, right?

But, yes, Google reveals:

It also helps to have a little make-up outlining your musculature.
Look at some of the stills.

Hey, good enough for Sandow, good enough for movie Spartans.

I haven't looked, but I wouldn't be surprised. Obviously, the actors
were selected - at least in part - for their physical appearance. Some
enhancement of those attributes for the big screen wouldn't be unheard
of.

I've watched the video of the workout. They still used make-up to
create muscular definition, and if you look closely at the stills, you
can tell. They were creating comic book images, just like in "Sin
City."

Not disagreeing with you, just posted the link for further
information/discussion. Twight commented that effort and results varied
widely among the cast members, so some probably needed the makeup more than
others.

You refuse to take your son to a movie? But it's okay if a friend's
parent does the job?

What, that the movie inspired someone's wife to begin "ogling" (your
word, not mine) someone other than her husband?

Regardless, you should see the movie before allowing your child to see
the movie. An opinion. One shared, btw:

When the trailer first started appearing on TV, my kids and I argued over
whether it was real humans (them) or animation (me). Now my 14-year-old is
trying to find a friend's parent to take him to see it, which I've told him
is fine if he can arrange it but so far, he's struck out.

There's a nice thread on Bryce Lane's board about someone who saw the movie
with his wife, noticed how his wife was ogling (my word, not his) the
physiques on the screen, and he used this as motivation to train harder.
That's the only positive thing I've heard come out of this movie.

You have to have an appreciation of the genre. It has nothing to do
with history; it's about graphic novels. They seem to be the newest
source material for films. Some of the films have been quite dismal
("League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," the first "The Punisher") or
mediocre ("V for Vendetta," the second "The Punisher"), while others
are more true to the original ("Sin City," "300"). If one is
unfamiliar with graphic novels, or considers himself/herself "above"
that medium, one will probably not appreciate the films generated from
them. I have no problem is admitting that I enjoy them.

Zack Snyder is now slated to direct "Watchmen," which has been on the
Hollywood burner since the late 1980s, and it appears that "Magdalena"
and "Black Hole" are also in pre-production. HBO may make a series of
"Preacher," which, if done properly, would be bold even for them. And
I'm still holding out hopes for "Transmetropolitan."
